  Joshua Lawlor

Joshua Lawlor

Baritone Joshua Lawlor is currently a student at the University of Kansas and will complete his Master's Degree in Voice Performance at the end of this concert season. His undergraduate education was completed at William Jewell College. Joshua has enjoyed challenging modern operetta and musical theatre roles, most recently a performance as Frank in Kurt Weill's American opera Street Scene. In addition to stage performance, Joshua has placed first in two young-artist competitions, twice qualifying him to sing with the Liberty Symphony Orchestra. He also completed a term studying music history and singing choral music at Oxford University.


 
  Bryan Taylor

Bryan Taylor

Bryan Taylor, baritone, joined the Chorale in 1992. He graduated from William Jewell College with a Music Education Degree and completed his Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. In 1998, he sang under the direction of Robert Shaw at Carnegie Hall and Furman University in South Carolina. He performed again with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers in January 2000 at Carnegie Hall and has returned for this honor for nine years. Taylor taught Choral Music for 15 years at Kearney High School, and is the Director of Music at Liberty United Methodist Church. Bryan is the founder and artistic director of the Liberty Community Chorus and is the Southwest ACDA Music in Worship Repertoire and Standards chair. Bryan and his wife Lanette live in Liberty and their kids are Lauren, Renee and Caleb. His music mentors include Manford and Nancy Rhea, Weston Noble, Arnold Epley, Eph Ehly, Charles Bruffy and Bill Grace.


 
  Scott Kincaid

Scott Kincaid

One of the low basses, Scott Kincaid, joined the Chorale in 1998.  A graduate of the University of Kansas, Mr. Kincaid also sang with the Kansas City Symphony Chorus for over 20 years, during which time he performed in Western Europe, the British Isles, and with the National Symphony in Mexico City.  For the spring Stravinsky Festival 2001, Mr. Kincaid sang the bass solo for the Kansas City Ballet's recreation of Renard, a Stravinsky/Balanchine collaboration. And in September 2005, Mr. Kincaid was invited to sing Renard again with the CSU Camerata and New York City's Peter Pucci Dancers in Columbus, Georgia.  He's been a guest singer with numerous choirs, and with the Chorale, he has sung King Balthazar in Amahl and the Night Visitors for Christmas concerts in 2005 and Daddy Sang Bass in the 2009 Bluegrass Concert.   Traveling with other Chorale singers in August  2009, he sang three concerts in South Korea.  A church choir director for over 20 years, he also owns and operates a construction company in Kansas City.


 
  Paul Davidson

Paul Davidson

Paul Davidson has been with the Chorale since 1995, and he was a soloist on their Grammy®-winning Passion Week recording. Mr. Davidson studied full time at Kansas State University from 1988-1990 and 1992-1994, majoring in Geography. During the 1991-1992 interim, Paul took classes part time while he served on the National Council of the Student Environmental Action Coalition. From 1999 to 2004 he worked in the district office of Congressman Dennis Moore. Paul currently serves on the Boards of Rosedale Development Association in Kansas City, Kansas; Wheat State Pizza, Inc, in Lawrence, Kansas; and the National Gulf War Resource Center. A soloist at Westport Presbyterian Church in addition to his Chorale performing, Paul does marketing and finance for Wheat State Pizza when not singing.


 
 

Hugh Naughtin

Hugh Naughtin, baritone, has a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, where he studied with Patrice Michaels. Since graduating in 2007, Hugh has sung in the Chicago Symphony Chorus, the Grant Park Chorus, and the Chicago-based a cappella ensemble Bella Voce. Hugh lives in Lawrence, KS, where he is involved in several local rock groups and teaches private lessons. This is his first season with the Kansas City Chorale.

 


 
  Garrett W. Epp

Garrett Epp

Garrett W. Epp, bass, has sung with the Kansas City Chorale for more than eleven seasons. He has sung with the Robert Shaw Festival Chorus for four performances in Carnegie Hall. Garrett holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music from Bethel College and Southern Methodist University. Since completing his D.M.A. Degree in Choral Conducting at the UMKC Conservatory of Music in 1993, he has been the Director of Choral Activities at Olathe North High School and High School Choral Facilitator for the Olathe District Schools. Garrett is the bass section leader at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church where he met his wife, Teresa. He and Teresa are proud parents of daughter Caroline.
